Dear Reader,
Renlai,ˇ§the Flute of Humankind", is a journal of opinion, a Chinese-language monthly that has stated publication in January 2004. It aims at fostering a genuine cultural and social debate within the Chinese world. Topics covered include urban planning, genetically modified foods, cloning, childrenˇ¦s culture, mental illness, the future of television, the Welfare State, Family in AsiaˇK, all this seen from the viewpoint and with the resources proper to the Chinese world. Editorials, interviews, essays, literary creation, movies and book reviews contribute in making Renlai a platform of interaction between cultures, creeds and opinions as well as a tool for fostering cultural diversity, inter-faith cooperation and social awareness. In association with collaborators from different backgrounds, a team of Jesuits sponsors and directs the monthly. Contributors come from Taiwan, Mainland China and overseas Chinese communities. Articles from European, American and Japanese authors are also included. Cooperation with Jesuit-led journals around the world, especially with the French monthly Etudes, which is our partner publication, enriches the ongoing dialogue fostered by Renlai. A creative layout appeals to sense and sensibility. Additional information is available on www.riccibase.com Please refer to the subscription offer and fax form. We hope you will decide to join the circles of readers, friends and benefactors of Renlai and we look forward to your positive decision today. Yours sincerely, |
